Receiving feedback can be a very humbling experience, but it is also the best way to advance your skills. Any advancement you can make will be limited by the ability of the provider of the feedback. If they are inexperienced or have only a superficial appreciation of the skills you are looking to develop then your growth will be constrained. In some cases, if you are more advanced than the provider of the feedback you may actually regress.
When you stand up and speak in public there will be people who will freely offer you their opinions on how you can improve. In most cases the feedback will come from someone who is well intentioned and well meaning. Before you decide to heed the advice provided ask yourself if the source of the advice has better speaking skills than you. If they don’t I suggest you tread carefully before taking the well intentioned instruction.
