Clutter can just gather without you even realising it. This is especially true when you have kids, clutter will just appear, minutes after you’ve cleared it away. I’m not going to offer you a silver bullet technique that will keep your life clutter free (if you have one please let me know), but I will remind you of the need to keep your presentations clutter free.
Like wandering through the lounge to trip over your son or daughters favourite toy is your audiences tripping over the information in your presentation? Have you shared the point in to much detail? Is what you are saying relevant to the message you want to deliver? Can the information you’re presenting be shared in a simpler way? Without asking yourself these questions you’ll find your audiences will stumble with the unnescessary clutter in your presentations. And, when they stumble, they stop listening.
As you do at home, take the time to clear the clutter from your presentations before you stand up and speak. I’m sure you wouldn’t like anyone to trip over the clutter around your house, the same applies to your presentations.
